Our story

A frame that grows, lenses that do the work

Bamboo View pairs a polarised lens — the kind that cuts glare off water, roads and snow — with a frame grown from bamboo, one of the fastest-growing and lightest woods there is. The bamboo is cut, steamed and pressed into a strong, slim frame that feels almost weightless on the face, while the polarised lens keeps the world crisp and glare-free on a bright day. It is eco-conscious eyewear that does the two things sunglasses should: it protects your eyes from glare and it looks good doing it.

How it's made

The frames are cut from bamboo, steamed and pressed into shape, then sanded smooth and finished with a natural seal. The polarised lenses are fitted into the frame by hand, and the hinges and nosepads are set for a comfortable, balanced fit.

How to use it

Wear them on bright days — driving, by the water, on snow or in the sun — to cut the glare that polarised lenses handle best. Store them in the case when not in use, and clean the lenses with the soft cloth.

Good to know

Can I get a prescription in them?

The frames here come with non-prescription polarised lenses. To combine a prescription with polarised lenses, take a bamboo frame to an optician and ask for polarised lenses in your prescription.

How do I care for them?

Clean the lenses with the soft cloth and store them in the case when not in use. Keep them away from heat and rough surfaces. The bamboo may deepen in colour slightly over time, which is natural and part of the finish.

Are they good for driving?

Yes — polarised lenses are excellent for driving because they cut the glare off the road and other vehicles' windscreens. Just make sure any car display remains readable through the tint you choose.

What are the frames made of?

The frames are made from bamboo, cut, steamed and pressed into shape, then sanded smooth and sealed. Bamboo is light, strong and fast-growing, so the frames are eco-friendly as well as comfortable.

Are they a medical device?

No. They are sunglasses — eyewear that reduces glare. They are not a medicine and not intended to address any vision or eye condition, and they do not replace prescribed vision correction.

What does a polarised lens do?

A polarised lens filters the glare that bounces off flat surfaces like water, roads, snow and glass. It makes bright days crisper and more comfortable, especially for driving and being outdoors.
